+ Hace 3 meses que iniciamos la aventura de crear un espacio para las propuestas de Carballo e Estrela, en el que pudiéramos también ofertar algunos de los artículos que nos gustan y que de un modo u otro nos inspiran.

+ 3 meses es poco tiempo, pero suficiente para sentir que la ilusión con la que inauguramos el proyecto no sólo no ha mermado si no que es todavía mayor. Tenemos ganas de seguir adelante, de desarrollar nuevas ideas y de traer a nuestra ciudad nuevas marcas y productos.

+ Aquí publicamos una muestra de lo que ha sido la temporada primavera-verano, un resumen visual de lo que se ha convertido en nuestra tarjeta de visita, aquello bajo cuya directriz queremos seguir caminando.

+ Que no se termine nunca el verano. Que llegue pronto el otoño.


+ 3 months ago we started the adventure of creating a space for the Carballo and Estrela proposed, which could also offer some of the items we like and that somehow inspire us.

+ 3 months is a short time, but enough to feel the excitement with which we opened the project not only has not diminished but it is even greater. We want to move forward, to develop new ideas and bringing new brands and products to our city.

+ Here we report a sample of what has been the spring-summer, a visual summary of what has become our calling card, that under whose guidance we keep walking.

Mañana y tarde || Morning and evening

+ La mañana la he pasado en el taller, atendiendo algunos encargos.

+ La tarde la he pasado en la tienda, atendiendo a algunos clientes, dibujando, bebiendo agua, comiendo una manzana, releyendo Alta Fidelidad, jugando al tetris en mi viejo y totalmente pasado de moda móvil y escuchando a Eels, The Postal Service, Linda Perhacs, Gillian Welch, Black Lips, Neil Young y Mojave 3.

+ Hemos recibido una nueva entrega de STANLEY, los mejores termos del mundo mundial.

+ I´ve spent the morning in the workshop, working in some commissions.

+  I spent the evening at the store, serving some customers, drawing, drinking water, eating an apple, rereading High Fidelity, playing Tetris on my old and completely outdated phone and listening to Eels, The Postal Service, Linda Perhacs, Gillian Welch, Black Lips, Neil Young and Mojave 3.

+ We have received a new release of STANLEY, the best thermos in the whole world.

La LIBREría # 2

+ La LIBREría ya está instalada.

+ The little free libray is already installed.

La LIBREría

+ Hace unas semanas descubrí a través de Amqr las Little Free Library, pequeñas librerías que siguiendo el espíritu bookcrossing se instalan en las entradas de las casas para que cualquiera pueda coger y dejar libros con total libertad.

+ La idea me seduce de tal manera que decido hacerme mi propia Little Free Library. Estas tienen un aspecto similar al cruce entre una casa para pájaros y un buzón de correos, me gustan mucho, pero yo ya hago casas para pájaros y buzones de correos, así que a la hora de diseñar mi propia LIBREría prefiero hacer algo distinto.

+ Pasan los días y no se me ocurre nada... entonces me pongo a cortar tablas de madera y a jugar con ellas como con las piezas de un puzzle y de repente me doy cuenta de que lo que quiero es algo muy sencillo, básico, y cuyo aspecto final me recuerda mucho a las colmenas de abejas.

+ La LIBREría estará situada en la entrada del espacio de Carballo e Estrela, en la calle San Román 22 de Pontevedra durante los meses de verano y disponible en horario comercial para todo aquel que desee coger o dejar un libro.

+ A few weeks ago I discovered through Amqr the Little Free Library movement, small libraries in the rossbooking spirit that are installed in the driveways for anyone who wants to take and leave books freely.

+ The idea appeals to me so I decide to make my own Little Free Library. These look similar to the cross between a birdhouse and a mailbox, I like, but I  already do birdhouses and mailboxes, so when designing my own library rather do something else.

+ Days go by and not think of anything ... Then I start cutting boards and play with them as pieces of a puzzle and suddenly I realize that what  I want is very simple, basic, and whose final appearance reminds me of bee hives.

+ La LIBRERía will be located at the entrance of Carballo and Estrela site, at San Román 22 of Pontevedra during the summer months and available during business hours for those who want to take or leave a book.

Loneta y madera || Canvas and wood

+ Un puñado de tirachinas y un par de pequeños lienzos.
+ Hace cerca de año y medio que no pinto sobre lienzo, me apetecía.

+ A handful of slingshot and a pair of small paintings.
+ Makes about one year and a half I don´t paint on canvas, I wanted to.

A - frame

+ A estas alturas de la primavera ya debería haber materializado un nuevo modelo de casa nido que llevo en mente desde hace meses, pero la repentina decisión de crear un espacio para ofertar y comercializar los artículos que realizo y aquellos que nos gustan paralizó durante casi dos meses
mi producción a todos los niveles.

+ El nuevo modelo estará totalmente inspirado en las A-frame houses, casas que se popularizaron como vivienda vacacional durante los años 50 y 60 en Estados Unidos y cuya esencia y estructura en forma de A se está reivindicando y recuperando desde hace un tiempo.
+ Después de haber hecho más de 100 casas del modelo Castiñeiras necesito renovarme un poco, ya que a pesar de hacer lo que me gusta, termino por aburrirme en cierta manera si no añado nuevos alicientes a mi rutina diaria.

+ De momento la idea sólo está plasmada en papel, pero en breve comenzaré a materializarla y por supuesto cuando esté lista dejaré aquí buena muestra de ello.

+ At this point in the spring I should have materialized a new bird house model that I have in mind for months, but the sudden decision to create a space to offer and sell the items I make and those we like paralyzed for nearly two months my production at all levels.

Deshacer cambios+ The new model is fully inspired by the A-frame houses, that became popular as a holiday home during the 50´s and 60´s in the U.S. and whose essence and structure in the form of A is claiming and recovering for a while.

+ After making over 100 bird houses of Castiñeiras model I need to renew a bit, because despite doing what I like, I end up getting bored in some way if I don´t add new attractions to my daily routine.

+ At the moment the idea is captured on paper only, but soon begin to materialize and of course when it is ready I will leave here a good example of this.

Skateboard

+ He pasado una de las tardes más divertidas de las últimas semanas. Seguramente porque he estado trabajando en mi primera tabla de skate, algo que llevaba deseando hacer desde hace meses y que hasta la fecha, por lo que sea, no había encontrado la ocasión de realizar.

+ Esto es tan sólo un boceto, una prueba para saber hasta qué punto me siento a gusto trabajando en ello, y me lo he pasado en grande!! El resultado ha superado por un lado las expectativas inmediatas, pues temía que el resultado final me desilusionara, y se ha quedado corto con lo que respecta a las expectativas a medio/largo plazo, ya que en el futuro quiero/puedo hacerlo mejor.

+ Mis intenciones se inclinan hacia el rollo old school, la estética 70´s californiana, combinando en cierta medida los diseños de los mini-longboards actuales con las tablas de entonces. Serán tablas para disfrutar del  cruising y el carving, pura travesía, puro goce sobre tablas de roble o arce.

+ Que ganas de tener mi primera tabla con los ejes ruedas y rodamientos montados y poder probarla!

 + I've spent one of the funniest evenings in recent weeks. Probably because I've been working on my first skateboard, which was wishing to do for months and so far, for whatever reason, had not found the time to perform.

 + This is just a sketch, a test to see how I feel comfortable working on it, and I've had a great time! The result has exceeded expectations on the one hand immediately, fearing that the end result disappoint me, and has fallen short with regard to expectations in the medium / long term, because in the future I want / I can do better.

 + My intentions are inclined to old school stuff, 70's california aesthetic, combining to some extent the design of the current mini-longboards with vintage ones. Boards will be to enjoy cruising and carving, crossing pure, pure enjoyment on boards of oak or maple.

 + I look forward to have my first board with wheels and axles and try it!

Best Made Company

+ Desde que inicié el blog de Carballo e Estrela he tenido la ocasión de descubrir y conocer a mucha gente interesante. Gente apasionada por una labor o una actitud ante la vida, de distintos lugares del mundo e involucrados en diferentes disciplinas: fotografía, cocina, camping, ciclismo, diseño, artesanía etc... y todos ellos han ejercido sobre mi una importante influencia de cara a desarrollar y mantener el espíritu que intento aplicar a todo lo que hago.

+ Recientemente he decidido que durante el transcurso de 2012 enviaré como muestra de agradecimiento alguno de mis productos a alguna de la gente que es para mí fuente de inspiración.

+ En los próximos días una de mis casas-nido viajará desde mi taller hasta el cuartel general de Best Made Company en Brooklyn. Se trata de una revisión del mod. Castiñeiras 2012 que he creado especialmente para los chicos de Best Made, tomando la forma y el color de su logo como punto de partida y añadiendo únicamente el blanco y el color natural de la madera de pino como soporte y complemento estético.

+ La próxima primavera esta casita, pieza única que no será seriada ni se comercializará, colgará en la zona boscosa de Lumberland, a las afueras de N.Y. donde el staff de Best Made tiene su santuario personal.

+ Me hace muchísima ilusión.

+ Since I started the Carballo and  Estrela blog I had the opportunity to discover and meet many interesting people. People who are passionate for a job or an attitude toward life, from around the world and involved in different disciplines: photography, cooking, camping, cycling, design, crafts etc ... and they have all exerted an important influence on the way to develop and maintain the spirit that I try to apply to everything I do.

+ I recently decided that during the course of 2012  I´ll send as a thank any of my products to some of the people that are for me a source of inspiration.

+ In the next few days one of my birdhouses will travel from my workshop to the headquarter of Best Made Company in Brooklyn. This is a review of the mod. Castiñeiras 2012 I created especially for Best Made guys, taking the shape and color of the logo as a starting point and adding only white and natural color of the pine wood to support and complement aesthetic.

+ The next spring this little house, a unique piece that will not be serialized or marketed, it will hang in the woods of Lumberland, outside of N.Y. where staff have their Best Made personal sanctuary.

+ I feel so thrilled about it.
